    S.O.S Pads and Scrubbers

In 1917, an aluminum pot salesman named Ed Cox came up with a pre-soaped pad to clean pots. Cox used his new invention as a kind of calling-card for new customers. He soon discovered that his new pads were more popular than his pots and pans. The name S.O.S - Save Our Saucepans" was suggested by his wife. If you look carefully, you'll notice there is no period after the last S. The already widely used distress signal - S.O.S. prevented the patenting of S.O.S. for his new pads, so the last period was dropped. The product was later sold to General Foods, then to Miles Laboratories and finally to Clorox. Clorox makes many fine cleaning products including bleach, S.O.S pads and scrubbers. These sponges and scrubbers get pots and pans clean after a busy restaurant night. Trust in S.O.S. to get your dinnerware sparkling clean.
